355 Tyre replacement info
Discussion
My 98 R 355 GTB needs tyres soon and I am currently on Goodyear Eagle F1 GS Fiorano. Apart from the fact that replacement cost is horrendous, I hear that it is not the best tyre for a UK 355 as they do not normally get warm enough. Is the Bridgestone the best replacement ( if so which one ?) as it is a softer tyre. As I may do 4-5000 miles per year I am not concerned about wear rates, just want better grip wet and dry. Any advice or experiences appreciated.

I have S01s on mine after being unhappy with wet weather grip on the Pirellis.
The Bridgestones are marginally better, but at the expense of road noise. And the improvement is marginal. Dry grip is very similar.
If I were to need tyres now I'd try Michelins, but suspect that such wide tyres will always give problems in dodgy weather...
All apart from the Fioranos can be had for between 6-800 quid a set depending on where you get them.
I wanted to try Fioranos when I last changed tyre, but they were well over double the cost (I seem to recall a rear was actually nearly 4x the cost, but could be my recollection playing tricks). That said, they're "run flat" aren't they?

I belive the Fioranos are run flat. Yes you are right, they are 4x the price for the rears !! So does it seem the consensus is the Pirellis then ? Ferrari dealers seem to say the Bridgestones but it is interesting to note the increased road noise. Thing is once you changed them thats it, so I would appreciate any more comments.
Price would rule out the Goodyears for me.
There's little between the Pirellis and Bridgestones IMO. Haven't been bowled over by either.
Toyos get good reviews on FChat and have heard good things about them on other marques...
Why not try something different - if you don't like them, just rack up 6k-8k miles and change them again

I'm with Murph in being no great fan of PZeros, mainly because of the transformed wet weather handling on the 911 when I had to switch from PZeros to Continental Contisport contacts. Were I to be looking for replacements on a 355/360 I'd check if the latter are available in the right sizes.
The PZero Corsas on the Stradale are very good. However, they have that look about them which suggests you'll need to crack open the KY when the time comes to replace them.
