The politest of by-elections,Thirsk and Malton
Discussion
Thirsk and Malton by-election will be in the next few weeks, both parties fielding candidates, most likely the Tory will win, but that isn't really the news.
The media jump all over bys and blow them up. Will they do even more with this one? Be prepared for a respectful (yet firm) campaign from Tory and LDer, from Labour, not sure, 'see how bad they are in government' maybe?
I hope the Nick and Dave laugh in from today continues, I think this by will be an interesting chance to view it out in the open.

Torys keep safe seat, but LDs smash thru Labour and push them into third!

It's my old MP, Anne McIntosh, standing for the Tories. She had to get selected for this as her old constituency (Vale of York) has gone. At one stage last year the local Tory high command tried to de-select her but she fought the tossers off. She should win easily as that part of NY is very blue. I hope she does as she was an excellent constituency MP and was always very happy to get involved in local issues.
Edited to say that's what happens when you are A. an ex-pat who hasn't watched the BBC news for a while and B. don't read all the posts in a thread.
Anyway - well done Anne.
