Just watched a bit of the news where a reporter asked CMD to explain why when asked for a joke he said Clegg........ He then confirmed that he did say it, and Clegg pretended to sulk off as a result, then came back all smiles. Interesting also the way they shook hands I thought, it actually all seemed quite genuine to me too.

They both seem quite personable too. Interesting times ahead.

I think they always have got on well actually - don't forget they've effectively been together in coalition for some time now - as the 'Opposition', so it's not like they're speaking to each other for the first time!

I also noticed during the TV debates, both Clegg and CMD appeared to be more 'comfortable' criticising Brown, whereas they both appeared to be a little 'rehearsed' when having a go at each other.

Glad to help... wink

KVA - yes, that's a fair point as well. They just seem to be (I hope my perception is right on this) fairly honest, decent, and actually interested in supporting and doing the best for the country (as they see it). I noticed when they left the conference they were still chatting away as well.

I like the shape of the cabinet too smile Looks like this might even be a better choice than just all Conservative. At least we'll only have Labour bleating.

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that.

Yep, I'm in agreement.

I was also thinking that in some respects it is going to be interesting because if there are "tough" choices to be made (which of course there will be in light of Winky's spending) then it won't just be the decision of the "nasty" Tories. Share the blame and share the victory kind of thing.

Frankly, my only real concern is going to be when it comes to Eco Taxes and bull****....

Me too. It was a breath of fresh air watching them in the press conference earlier, and such a nice change to listen to a PM and DPM that didn't clog my bullshiyte filter.

Also encouraging is the alleged MP's who will contest the liebour leadership <snigger>

A more worthless, characterless bunch of wasters you could not wish for to lead what will obviously be a bilious, mewling, and spiteful opposition. With a bit of luck, a fair wind, and some judicious decisions the country can tell liebour to fk off into the nearest skip; just follow Scargill Way and take the first left into RedRobbo Road and you'll see the skip for contaminated waste half a mile on the left.

All this optimism spread on here and other places reminds me of a certain Friday in May 1997, and look where that led us to.

They did seem to get on well and have a decent chemistry.

Let us hope they can last the full five years.

What he said. My fear going into this election was that the Tories would be on the receiving end of a 'hospital pass', have to make all the tough decisions involving cuts and tax rises and be hated by the generally retarded electorate and then they'd be out of power for 20 years as Merv King said. The coalition can only be a good thing in this respect as St Vince of Cable, for example, will also be banging on about the need to cut the deficit, which will require cutting services. So the Tories can't be solely blamed.

It was different then, in that Blair et al were singing "things can only get better" and pretending they were rock stars. This time Cameron and Clegg are quietly saying "this is going to be a rough ride folks, better hold on tight".

I for one wasn't optimistic that day. I thought, "oh no, not that insincere "
