Could not help notice that DC had no police escort, and stopped at some red lights... did some one cock up?

I was wondering that. Surely if Brown lost his Motorcycle Outriders upon resigning, then the new PM should have them as he leaves the Palace?

Pretty sure he had two armed (not in uniform) officers in the BMW behind. One exited the car and adjusted his jacket (which I took to mean he's making sure his pistol is there and secure) before approaching the rather happy guy who was waving, taking pics and then getting on the phone to his mates whilst standing next to CMD!

It all looked a bit dodgy to me too, I was expecting some armored motorcade with the streets being closed off. It looked like any lunatic could have just got right up next to the car with God knows what.

2 things that I noticed..

DC cars is a full bomb proofed special jag, you can tell by he size of the door windows when he opened the. And number 2 their was a black jag behind most likely with the flying squad etc...

Overt or covert...This was covert but the security that matters was there, if there was a hijack or bomb was definitional covered..

but not the paps..

The silver Jag was armoured.

But was a little surprised he didn't get the motorcycle escort.

Did anyone notice the W plated armoured Jag that Brown arrived in (I'm assuming it was armoured), and the rather nice 10 plated Jag that CMD turned up in? W seemed a little 'old' for our (outgoing) PM to be knocking around in.

Love to know the story behind some of these vehicles.

Relax - the lunatic was in the other Jag - his wife was forcing tranquilisers down his throat in a vain attempt to stop him kicking off into a full-on psychotic meltdown and upsetting the kids, and the under-new-management driver had made sure the child safety locks were on, so he couldn't get out anyway.

was talking to a friend of mine on email last night, her other half does anti Hijack training, for the Met amongst others, he was appalled... I am guessing serious word will be had (if not done already!")
