Canon EF 17-40 Advice & Feedback
Discussion
Does anyone have any experiance of the EF 17-40?
Currently I have a 450d and am looking for both a landscape lens and also to replace the standard kit lens, and this looks like it could meet all my requirements. (I already have a Canon 50mm 1.8 and a Tamron 70-300).
Does this lens work well for landscapes on a cropped sensor?
Finally are there any alternatives worth looking at?
Thanks,
J

I have some experience of this lens, and did the same as you replacing the kit lens with it. It's quite wide as an every day lens, and more suitable for landscapes than as a walkabout lens.
It's a lovely lens though, very sharp indeed (and a good price for being an L).
As for alternatives, if you are purely shooting lanscapes, then I would go for canon's 10-22 or sigma's 10-20mm. Got the 10-22 also, and it's excellent fun!
