Where can I buy grenadine?

Alright guys, I need to get hold of some grenadine by next weekend. Assumed tesco would have it, but no luck. I've found an online retailer that does a bottle for £4, but delivery is another £6 on it! Any ideas any actual shops I can buy it from? I'm based in Birmingham if that helps?

They do sell it in Tesco. At least they do in the big one here. In a clear bottle with a tropical fish on the front, for some reason.

ah cheers guys, tesco round here deffo don't, they even checked it on the system for me. There's a sainsbury's round here though, so i'll pop in tomorrow. It's not for tequila sunrise, it's for making monaco's with!

This is the stuff you need though it may not look like it: the name 'grenadine' comes from the French word 'grenade', meaning pomegranate.

I always have a bottle in the house for cocktails; to mix with fizzy water as a soft drink; or to mix with tamari, olive oil, lemon zest and cinnamon as a marinade for chicken, game birds or lamb.

bear in mind that french Grenadine syrup as used in cafes over there is mixed-fruit flavour these days, not actual pomegranate flavour (it used to be, but its now more commercialised i guess). I'm sure it will still make a good cocktail though.

Thanks. It's a very convincing 1910 (or so) take on a monastic refectory table with matching benches.

You can pick these up for peanuts since they're far too big and heavy for most people to want to lug about (the table is 7 1/2 feet long by x 3 1/2 feet wide), though it all comes apart to make the job 'easier'.

At least where I live, grenadine is stocked in Tesco and Asda. I think you were rather unlucky not to find in your local Tesco - with the exception of instances where it was out of stock I've been able to get it from every large Tesco.

Mine came with the house (it's rented), but it's the sort of thing you should be able to find in an antique shop for £300 tops.
