Good to see it's being treated with a bit of reverence for such a piece of kit... open inlet tracts, no rocker covers.

Real enthusiast there...

apparently the engines are from a "well respected tvr independant in henley who i trust 110%" .. to quote the seller's representative when asked about them ..

haven't a clue who that could be though ..

How many true 4.5BV were actually made , does Ray know Rob . Was it based on the rover racing tuscan engines, I know it made it into some Griffs, again not sure of the numbers myself.

If I was a guessing man, I would guess that pic is of standard 4.5 Tiv lump, but I'm not, so I won't

Absolutely no idea!! i doubt ray knows either, i have never come across a 4.5 fitted in a chim that has big valves the only 4.5 bv that i was aware of were the wedges from the old nck days!

Certainly made it into some of the early Griffs, deffo less than 10 though. I thought Ray had connections going back to the NCK days, never mind .
Fountain of late 80's and early 90's, Tim do you know .

The early Griffs and Chimaeras(1992-1993) that came with 4.5s had big valves and were basically SEAC spec engines, very rare though probably around 20 produced

What a sad bunch of individuals you lot are that questioned the authenticity and spec of my engine .Instead of highlighting your already
sad weekend with the Sunday morning drive sporting the matching baseball caps . Why did you not come and view the engine for yourself and be proved wrong .
Might i suggest you lose this comfort blanket website called PistonHeads from your life and start by getting mechanically involved with you vehicle rather that just blowing a lot of hot air.

Just for the record the engine was from a special order 1993 Chimaera that was totalled in Spain .

The seller ended this listing early because the item was lost or broken.

Now, from same seller:

Yes I was cynical too, but if you visit the place you will understand more. Yes a genuine dealer is selling some bits and pieces that have been stored and there could be some rare finds, all beit stored rather haphasadly

Obviously at a grand you are taking a certain risk, but these are genuine items and worth a look see.

Cheers

Not imo, I make a point of not dealing with people who portray themselves as dicks. The engine is rare and a certain amount of confusion exists over how many of these engines are as described... all perfectly reasonable. What looked to me like a pretty healthy discussion over how many of these engines exist was certainly not added to by Liam throwing a strop my 2 year old daughter would have been proud of.

The first engine appears to be a 4.5BV from a Griffith circa 92 , judging by manifolds. rare as RHS.
The second is probably from a later chimaera 4.5 which has standard valves etc and not rare, but good value.

....
Tim

What has the Royal Horticutral Society got to do with TVR Tim
Thought they looked like the pre-cat griff manifold set up, could this not have also be used on the chim if it was fitted as a de-catted export, assuming they fit the chim engine bay that is, may help to add flesh to the history to the guy trying to move it on . Then again, Dom at TVR Power wil have the engine details on record, if anyone is interested in getting the lump.

Liam was just emailed me this through my profile...

Why don't you re- read the comments before mine then put yourself in my place . All these people who question my engine and also question my integrity do not have the decency to contact me first .I do not know where you lot got your manners but the way i was brought up this was deemed as being very rude .I set a reasonable reserve price offer viewing and all i get is your bollocks .
Best of luck with your fake Lotus.
Liam

The internet is an open forum and people will say what they bloody well please. How you have the gall to question my manners when you accuse people who log on here as a 'sad bunch of individuals' when they are simply chewing the fat is beyond me. To then send me an email suggesting the same makes you even more of a hypocrite.

I never doubted if your engine was genuine or not, plenty of people make this mistake about what's in their car. If you aren't one of them then this is the perfect forum for you to say that and you have every right to. However, what you did is storm in here and throw your rattle out of the pram and, with this being a public forum and all, I (among others) commented on it. If you don't want to discuss it here then don't and don't waste your time sending me any more emails trying to intimidate me.

Liam is being a little over sensitive, this is the place to discuss and get unbiased info, ideal if you wish to purchase something like this, i don't think anybody seriously interested would be put off having read these posts, maybe enlightened.
I'll say it again they appear to be good value.
