Hi Guys, as the titles suggests really, I have been looking for some m10 nuts at around 75/90mm long ( similar to a coupling/connecting nut ) but not having any luck.

I have found a few firms who will make some as a bespoke job but the prices are silly and hoping to get some off the peg so to speak.

I would be eternally grateful if someone could point me in the direction of some, ideally stainless steel.

Thanks

bow

does it have to be a nut? can you not make a coupling yourself from a bit of bar or tube and tap it out?

for something that small [diamater] i wouldn't know where to look for an off the shelf solution.

Yeah i have looked into buying some hex bar and getting it drilled and tapped but the price was much more expensive then i would have expected.
I need around 100 of them.

There is a screw shop in Jordens Wood outside Wilmington in Kent. They might be able to help you.

It's here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&a...

100! well that rules out self making them smile

can i ask what the application is? i would've thought there'd be a better solution than such oversized couplings.

At the moment its a bit top secret but could be a nice little earner once it all comes together.

The order size is a problem, as you say. 100 is to many to make myself but not enough to order from China/India where i have found a few firm who can do them

Screwfix? They'll have your pants down!

Try Bapp for Bolts. www.bapp.co.uk

ring up your local office. Sure they'll be able to sort you. They can get hold of pretty much ANY thing I've found.

Have you tried Thomas Smith, based in Hindley near Wigan.

http://www.thomassmithfasteners.com/

We use them for random odd sized bolts etc. and they never seem to fail us.

Do you need one continuous thread, if thats what you are asking for thats why they are so expensive.

Why cant you just weld a nut on each end of a tube? If you wound a length of stud through first you would then the threads would just about line up as well.

Or put about 7 nuts on a piece of threaded stud and weld them together. wink

Come on tell us what you're making, we wont tell anyone. biglaugh

Already thought of both these ideas but the finished article needs to be really presentable if its to pay for my early retirement wink
