I used Green star this year for the first time at the beginning of March. They picked my wedge up from Co.Durham and serviced it and did a free MOT which was included with the full service. It only needed a few extras doing to it and I was fully informed every stage of the way. I picked the Wedge up from them and had a fab drive home as the car was running spot on.
I'll be back with them for next years service.

I have always believed that if something looks too good to be true then it generally is...According to their pricing (using the Speed 6 prices listed for benchmarking) a 6k service costs £285 incl VAT (which is already unbelievably cheap, YES, cheap) and the 12k service including tappets check is £325. So for £40 they change your engine coolant, air filter, fuel filter, gearbox oil, diff oil, clutch fluid, brake fluid and check your tappets???
Not forgetting that in the £285/ 325 is included a free MOT. In addition to this they will collect your car from anywhere in the UK for the cost of the diesel for their transporter (so, for nationwide customers they could use a man and a van for a day each way and only cover the cost of fuel).
This just does not add up!! But if someone can show me how one can make this formula into a sustainable business then I'd be willing to consider that perhaps it is an exception to the rule...
I presonally never select a garage on price. Those servicing costs are far too low. I would worry that the car wouldnt get the proper attention or that extras would HAVE to be found. I am not suggesting that Green Star are anything but fab however. It just doesnt stack up in my mind. Maybe they are happy to take vvvv low wages out of the co.

And what is that statement based on? .I have also used other TVR garages and IN MY OPINION theses guys treated my car and me the best of any gagage I have used. My car is now running better than it has during my ownership thanks to the work these guys did. My car did require other work over and above the service and mot.

I see my question could have seemed a bit confrontational - it was not intended to be. My point was simply that it is relatively straightforward to make a TVR run/ feel better during a service but this it not proof that the job has been done properly. IMO the facts and costs of what needs to be done just don't add up with the prices being quoted.
The fact that your car needed extra work doing may also be telling, but to be fair, most TVRs do tend to need additional work at service.
