Nice video review of the Elise from EVO: http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetevovideos/251515...

It does sound like it is lacking in the noise department. Has anyone first hand experience of the new 1.6 vrs the old 1.8 engine in the S?

Typical topgear style of report rolleyes
What's wrong with showing us a bit more in the engine bay , or what the boot space is like now or have they opened up the front storage space, or does the passenger seat slide, or how does the roof work, is the heater any good, are there sunvisors.
Instead endless footage of roads around Surrey - Didn't the first mile tell us what it was all about? Did he use 6th? Did they work out their mpg for the trip?

Sounds really quite nice from inside the car, I've just carried out 1k miles in one and it really is super impressive. At 5k rpm there is a nice rorty induction noise without being intrusive and the gearbox is delight.

Ignoring who/where I am it really is one of the most impressive new cars I have driven in a long time.

In my humble opinion it slightly harks back to the eagerness of an S1 111S with it's close-ratio 'box and enough power to entertain on British roads, you can really get a lot out of this new 1.6 Elise. Considering I had jumped out of a Cup 260 and into this car with its 130bhp power difference, I was not disappointed in the slightest. In fact if anything I was more impressed with the Elise than the Exige, certainly as a road car.

I imagine this car will open the door for more lease purchases, low tax, low depreciation, lower running costs, and also lots of company car drivers are restricted in the choice to sub 155g co2 cars. (or?)
Video was good, thx for the link, i think there is also an autocar video knocking about somewhere.

Thanks for the pointer, a few clicks later I had found the Autocar video: http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallpapers/Videos.a...

Sounds great. I am just not sold on the styling yet, front end i'm OK with but the rear is still a large ? for me.

Cheers for the link again, i think watching videos is a good compliment to photos. Cars are not static devices after all and have gotta look good moving and with a real background not a white studio. Pity my disastrous finances are a tied up in ridiculous projects, otherwise id be interested. Canyon red metallic tho. One day smile lol.
