As I can't make Brunters this year I popped along yesterday to stretch the turbo's legs. It was blimmin' freezing and pretty windy - but I had a heap of fun (having the entire circuit to myself!). I now need new rear tyres

As a matter of interest, as I left the circuit my predictive fuel level said I had 41 miles left. I drove 58 miles home and it said I had 110 left

I also wanted to experiment with the bullet cam in the car as I intend to do some fancy filming in the Highlands later this year... and I thought it may be useful to share the footage with anyone going this year for the first time (or anyone else for that matter). So, here's a link (13mb wmv - right click and 'save as' probably best):

Good stuff Steve. Far smoother than my own ragged driving efforts. Just one query how did you get the circuit to yourself?

Worthy of adding a link from PHtv.

(Must look at getting a hidden incar bulletcam system installed.)

Daz

Provided there is no big bash on, you can hire Bruntingthorpe for £50 + VAT per hour (min 2 hours). Book in advance by contacting them via the Brunters website.

Thanks Steve. If you ever do it again and fancying splitting the cost for 2 hours do please let me know. I mean stone chips would not be an issue with only two of us on a track with a 4 mile lap.

We've done this a few times, with somes mates and when testing drag cars.

Provided it's not block booked it's £50 plus vat per hour per car - money well spent.

However it's only usuallly available like this mid-week. The advantage is you may see some other interesting machinery being tested there, I've seen race bikes, new Astons and a few others being thrashed for endurance tests eg a Triumph bike that lapped continally at speed for hours with stops only for fuel.

Enjoyed the video Steve, thought it might be good going on the quality of your still shots.
Your right - A digital speedo shot as well would be good and I like the music, but maybe it should have a bit of engine sound,
Look forward to seeing some more

But isn't it a Porsche? There won't be any engine sound!

Excellent video BTW

.Mark.... just what I was about to say!

There's bugger all engine noise in a Turbo at the best of times, but at 180 mph all you can hear is wind (mostly from the passenger)

Steve, I was there aswell, couldn"t have been long before you left, I was in the Radical (SR4)running it in etc, did see you parked up on the left as the circuit goes down towards the 2 mile straight. Only used the short circuit after running in and clocked 142mph on the shorter straight. Nice video btw.

Hi Tony... yea, saw you arrive as I was 'packing up' (ie getting all the gaffa tape off the motor).

The one thought that crossed my mind (I don't multitask) as I saw you was - Isn't Brunters track surface a little bumpy/harsh on the Radical? I took my R500 round the big loop last year and almost shook my teeth loose. It was bad enough in the Porker!

Yes, very bumpy especially through the right hander at the bottom of the straight, lost some fibreglass off the bottom of the splitters when I was "on it" but it served a purpose for running the car in though!
