Given all the negative threads about TVRs and reliability - especially Speed Six engines - I thought that I'd let you all know about our Tamora.
We've had her for over 7 years now, from new. No significant problems in all that time, no engine rebuild, no new clutch, only regular servicing by the factory, once by Power and then X-Works. Treated with great care and respect and pushed only when the oil temperature is right.
We've just returned from our 3rd major European trip over the years, this time from Lancashire to Provence in France (and yes, we did take her to the seaside) and of course back again! More than 2,500 miles in less than 3 weeks. We've also done several trips to Scotland over the years, many of 2,000 miles or more duration.
She has never let us down over more than 25,000 miles in the 7 years plus.
So there are good stories around of the reliability of Speed Six cars, perhaps not mentioned often enough. And yes, I am willing to sell her for £50k (
).

In my experience, pretty much every TVR that's been looked after has been more reliable than your typical Euro/Jap box. Mine certainly has been - and it's 18-odd years old with >100k miles. Barring one failure which was due to a wrong part fitted it's not let me down in nigh on four years - admittedly only 5k a year but nonetheless...
Finally got rid of the god-awful Audi after inlet manifold control flaps failed twice and the Bimmer has had the kind of niggles expected of a TVR - the windscreen washer bottle has sprung a leak and the diff's whining.
The nature of PH and TVRCC forums is primarily to gain help and advice so it's no surprise we usually only see the downsides. A daily post saying 'Nope, nothing to see here - all's hunky dory. Still.' would make rather dull reading.

Which reminds me - I must sort out my photos from this years Chatsworth. I think we just about got to the 10% of all Tamoras point again.

As much as I agree that there's never much in the way of good news posts, I always feel that this sort of thread leaves TVR owners open to having it ripped. Man does 25k in 7 years and it's an amazing feat that his engine hasn't blown up.

True, but the point I was making was that the Tamora hasn't let us down at all - no engine problems, electrical problems, clutch problems, etc etc that stopped us getting from A to B and back to A again. Better than many Euroboxes. Hope you have more trouble free years
