Backed the car out of the garage on saturday morning to find a nice puddle of oil on the floor. The oil is right under the front near side shock absorber, and the unit itself is soaking. I guess one of the seals has just gone - completely!
Fortunately I have a warranty, and the stars at TVR Power have fitted me for Thursday - just in time for the weekend!!
I guess 20,000 miles on the original TVR shocks is probably usual!
Just hope I can get the opposite side done as well.

Trouble is TVR only replace in pairs (according to Henley's anyway) and the warranty (if it's WHA) won't pay for the other one

Mine needed a new one last year - it was done under warranty but still cost about £150 to do the other side

My warranty is with Car Care Plan. I guess I'll find out on Thursday what they say!
I'd rather pay an extra £150 if it means saving the other from failing a week later...

If I were you I'd ask to keep the good one and then if one pops in the future at least you'll have a used spare to replace it with. (I wish I'd thought of this last year!)

Warranty company will only cover 1 shock. I don't fancy paying £267 to fit the other - I think I'll wait a while for it to fail on its own, and get the warranty company to pay for it!

Any thought of not replacing shocks, brakes or any other paired components together is utterly mad.
An extra 150 quid or 267 is cheap compared to living the rest of your life as a cripple if your car spins suddenly and violently under braking.

If I notice any difference I will have the other done. Generally, I think it is quite hard to notice any difference, but I do agree, it should be replaced. You never know how soon the second one may begin to leak....

My dampers are leaking as well. This is a good opportunity to change them for some Nitrons.

Apparently it improves the handling of the Tuscan dramatically (I will find out for myself next week ).

Warranty company will only cover replacing to the original spec, so you will unfortunately have to fork out £800+ for the nitrons. They are better however...

I don't have a warranty on my car. Warranty companies are nearly as bad as car insurers at weasleing out of paying up for a claim. You would be surprised how much "wear and tear" there is out there.
