I'm clearing out my loft in readiness for my upcoming house move and have found an old sawing machine that had been left there by the previous owner. Can anybody help identify it? Would it be worth anything?

That's a sewing machine. £50 perhaps.

Could a mod spare my blushes and change the title please?!

Looks like that's the one. £65 in good condition, doubt mine will be worth much at all...

I have one of them!

I cleaned it up, painted the base in satin black, oiled the top up and have it on display in my front room. It has a couple of handy drawers in it for odds and ends too, and is a nice enough
thing.

Not worth a lot I'd imagine.

you could just donate it to a museum and they'll give it a clean and maybe put it on display - with the condition its in and the condition it ideally should be - it wont be worth the money

They appear regularly on antiques programmes. Unfortunately they were made in their millions, are heavy and nobody has anywhere to put them. Many survive and hence, they don't fetch much at auction.

Cheers for that, I've emailled a couple of companies who seem to sell them and see what they think.

I'm sure an Allsaints shop has these collection of these as a window display. Perhaps ask if they want another?
