Had my camera 3 or 4 weeks over a year (warranty period) and now it's
Wont even switch on, I have tried several new batteries but nothing.
Jesspos want £40 to take a look at it but it'll be around 6 to 8 weeks and I go on holiday in 6 weeks so it might mean going back to film
!
I will be having a word with Fuji this morning but wondered if anyone knew of other places that do repairs in the south?

No help to you I know but just thought I'd put in a good word for Pentax. I had a problem with my camera last summer (well actually I dropped it in the paddock on a track day) and it wouldn't work afterwards. Nothing obviously busted but not working! I took it to Penatx in Langley and the chap in their workshop fixed it there and then, no charge, didn't even ask how old it was or how it got damaged. How good is that?

.Mark,
I am sure I read an article recently about a recall of Fuji cameras suffering from power supply problems, may be worth a call to them. I understood the camera would be replaced if this was the problem.
Good luck
David
Cheers David, I just spoke to Fuji and they didn't say anything (like the would!

You're right, Fuji were asking for the S7000 models back because they were draining the batteries whilst the camera was off as well as on.
Sorry to hear about your troubles Mark, I'd be tempted to ring Fuji and see what they suggest.
Not much help I know, sorry.

there is a camera repairer local to us in Southsea.
There detaisl are in the yellow pages. They are located on the corner of Palmerston Road oppoosite the pedestrianised area.
I took my Canon lense there for repair and got it back in a couple of weeks. Would have been quick if the technician hadnt been on holiday!

Cheers Adam,
I already spoke with Fuji who are going to look at it for free, and we may be able to reach agreement on the warranty too.
It should be with them this morning so here's waiting. With a 10 day turnaround time too - so should be back in time for my holidays.
Thanks anyway mate.

Hi Mark
Under the Sale of Goods Act an item must last what would be thought a reasonable amount of time. Under this act there is a limit of 6 years and you should reasonably expect a digicam of that calibre to last a few years at least.
This is why extended warranties are not really worth the paper they are written on.
Glad to hear that the manufacturers are being reasonable about it but you always have this legislation to fall back on.
