I am building a single speed road bike and have a problem.

I got a frame from a mate and it has a sakae SX chainset with chain.

I bought a rear wheel off Ebay complete with a 16T Dicta freewheel.

Trouble is the chain doesn't fit the new freewheel, the links are too close together.

Any ideas?

When you say the links are too close together do you mean the pins are too close together or the links are too narrow?

First thing I'd do is pop down the LBS and pick up a cheap single speed chain, that way you will know it is standard and can work out if its the chainring or freewheel that you need to be replacing

I'm guessing you mean that the chain is too narrow? In which case you need a 1/8" chain rather than the 3/32" you've probably got at the moment.
