I tripped over this research paper today and thought I'd share it as it makes for an interesting read, including fuel price comparison over the last century in real terms - seems like we should stop moaning!

Item IX?

Er...this is 2010, not 2000...what a difference 10 years makes...I'll moan ... it's peaking now at £5.40 a gallon (only a pound less than that peak) there's no World War occurring (which I would expect contributed to that spike, as well as the stated taxes) and oil is readily available...indeed is there not still a surplus on the market?

(yes I know it's all tax)

Often happens when you're walking through the internet. The number of old pdfs and things just left lying around despite being no use to anybody is amazing.

Just the other day I was talking to a secretary who'd stubbed her toe on a manual for WordStar in the internet.

hehe
I was trying to find the number of Government employees per city, as I know parts of Northern Ireland would be heavily hit by spending cuts, and thought I'd try and find how much an almost communist countyr we have become, especially in some Cities.

Someone said that out of a working population of about 30m there are 6m of them work for local or central government - seems a crazy amount to me.

Anyway during my search for the stats, this came up through google...
