So I wrote to Cameron about fuel duty.....
Discussion
I voiced my opinions about how the motorist never seems to get any help and the three main parties haven't really said anything clear about their intentions with regards fuel duty and the like.
Here's an excerpt from the reply one of his people sent me:
Fuel's never going to get significantly cheaper, but I like the sound of this fuel price stabiliser. At least then you can budget.
Whether it happens or not, however, is another matter.
And does their stance on retrospective tax increases mean they will reduce the increased tax applied to older cars now?

But we are consulting on a Fair Fuel Stabiliser, which would ensure that the British economy is less exposed to instability in the international oil markets. When oil prices go up tax on petrol would go down, and when oil prices go down taxes would rise. This would keep prices at the pump more consistent and help hard pressed households by cutting petrol taxes when prices are rising.
As a final point, I would like to add that we have consistently been on the side of hard-pressed motorists, and we will resist the attempts of this Government to use them as a cash cow. That is why we continue to oppose the Government’s retrospective increases in road tax and their plans for a national road pricing scheme.
What do we think to that then?
