Atul Kochhar's restaurant in the sticks! Have a table booked for Saturday evening for our wedding anniversary. Any experiences? Any suggestions? We are thinking at the mo that the tasting menu is the way to go - thoughts?

we had a meal there a few months back - really good. Nice atmosphere and style

a tip if you fancy it: they do a 'taster' variant of their menu, where they match wines to the different courses (and different wines for each option) - having said that, I didn't fancy the wine on offer with my starter so wanted to switch it - Maitre'd insisted I should try it even though I made it clear I didn't like Zinfandel. When I tried it and confirmed it was not to my taste, he replaced it with a different wine (more expensive) no hassle.

Yep, we were thinking of the taster menu, but will probably decide on the night - good tip regarding the wine, I'll bear that in mind.

Cheers

That website is terrible.

Opportunity for a PHer, there, if ever I saw one.

That website is bloody useless. I was going to google their postcode so I could see how far it is from me, need somewhere nice to take the missus soon and she loves Indian-esque food. The fking frame won't scroll down far enough to let me see the postcode, and even if it did then it won't let me copy and paste it from there.

Purely on that basis I'm not going to persue it any further. That, and the fact that it looks expensive.

It's SO32 2HL, there's a red bar by the text box you need to drag down to see it. About half a mile from me, and yes, reports say it's expensive, but it is owned by a Michelin starred chef!

Agree, the web site is pants, unfortunately not my business or I would seize the opportunity smile

Thanks for the suggestions so far, keep them coming, I'll let you know the verdict after Saturday.

that doesn't leave much! as I recall there isn't much within 1/2 mile of the place; largely the vineyard itself...

have a great meal - from 1/2 mile away you can probaby walk home so not need to worry about driving there - from Fareham it was a little drive - fortunately one of our friends we were eating with gave us a lift there.

Been there for the tasting menu plus wine recently - very nice and great experience
Do not use a sat nav to go there from any other direction as from the M27 you will find intereting diversions (and lost of handwritten signs do not follow satnav...)
Not helped by staff there when you phon up struggle to explain how to get their from the Shell Station in Whickham....
But staff were excellent and gave us a full tasting menu lunch after their official closing time
Would go again, probaby in summer for al freco...
