Apart from some slightly dodgy CGI - absolutely awesome!

it has everything!

Some classic lines from John Hannah - he's really shot up IMO i only thought he could speak Scottish wink

"Ahhhrgh the snake has arrived! - Walking as if human!"

Legendary!

Bravo or you could torrent it and watch it all wink

Second season has been given a green light but been put on hold as the guy who plays Spartacus has had to start treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma

I've torrented the entire season. It's just AWESOME.

The first episode makes you wonder whether this is going to be Godawful or fantastic. I tell you mate, it's SUPERB!!!

Muscles, hot girls(topless more often than not), fighting, terrible accents, awful dialogue and interesting CGI.

Funnily enough, the combination makes it completely epic. Enjoy.

There's talk of a "prequel" series around other characters to fill in time whilst he's receiving treatment.

The whole series is worth a watch - the starting episodes are appallingly acted and very contrived, but then it builds up some great politics and machinations. The last 3, especially, are excellent.

I was wondering why there wasn't a thread on this yet.

Seen the entire first season, ultimate bloke series.

As mentioned it has everything! Watch/download in HD if possible, some great scenes when the CGI works lol

They had this on Charlie Brooker's "You Have Been Watching" series. It looks like a comedy OTT version of 300, which is comedy OTT itself! There were many many warnings before showing the clips about the gore, and I was expecting the worst as I'm not one for seeing bloodjuice, but I was just laughing at it all.

No I haven't watched Spartacus, apart from the clips on YHBC. From what I saw of Spartacus, I'd call it 'funny for the wrong reasons', maybe 'so bad its good'.

Maybe you should actually watch it before passing judgement based on a light entertainment shows' review biggrin

I think that was part of it from what I saw.

I thought it was pretty good. Very shallow, but pretty good.

It has the music and story from Gladiator.

It has the filming style of a (cheap) 300.

It has the script humour of Rome.

By the last one I mean that they seem to get their swearwords from a 2000 year old 'ideas wheel' where on one side you have the names of gods, and on the other side it has the names of sexual organs. For example:

"By Jupiter's gonads!"

"By Venus' c***!"

And yes they do say c*** a good few times, but every time it is done in such a way it is unintentionally very funny.
