Bit of a whim here, I have a bunch of photos of a special occasion that are straight off an SLR, they don't look terrific tbh, they look like they have been taken by a novoice, how far can you go to improve them? Are there companies that do processing of photos to make them look at least half decent?

You're a bit more limited then. How are they not quite upto scratch? Lack of colours etc?

Well, pretty poor really, it's as though I have gotten hold of an SLR and shot some pictures (that's not a good thing)

There is a lot of software out there to help with this, it might be worth trying some out to see if any help. If not, you may need to approach a professional photographer and see if they are willing to do so.

Umm well asides from cropping the bottom of that one (10 second job in photoshop) what sort of rescuing were you hoping for?

Hmm, that looks better, I downloaded picasa or whatever and it has some options, I guess I can fiddle about with that and see how far I get.

I guess I didn't have anything specific in mind, just see what's achievable.

Does this go under 'wedding photographer disasters' perchance?

The photo is screaming for correction from barrel distortion and it's not level. When it comes to lightening shadow areas on underexposed JPGs, they quickly get very noisy. White balance seems OK.

Sort of, there were various circumstances beyond our control which meant this happened.

Luckily it's not the end of the world.

Indeed not, there's always Photoshop! Take comfort from the fact that by the time they've been properly beaten out straight (as much as is possible) they will probably make decent prints and nobody else will notice. Not for nothing do I dub it Adobe Turdpolisher wink
