Water induced misfire
Discussion
Took the Chimaera out today and got caught in a position where I had to go through a shallow ford....cue steam from bonnet vents etc...i went slowly but now have a terrible misfire...i can hear 3 cylinders back firing very badly and the engine feels VERY lumpy....any advice in what I can do as I want to drive it this afternoon???
let it cool and then give it a liberal coating of WD40.
(WD = water dispersant)
if you went slowly there is next to no chance of water ingestion. unclip the pipe to the mass meter... no water inside = no probs.
most likely is the belts threw some water around under the bonnet and soaked the plugs / dizzy.
if its no better then...sart getting concerned
good luck

open up the intake pipe and guess what???? I found a large piece of sticky back foam blocking the tube to the air mass meter
(I guess Valerie Singleton helped build my Chimaera
) Luckily no water present and the gauze was stopping the foam being ingested any further...the misfire has now gone
, but I cant help feeling that this piece of foam was robbing me of some performance????....
