I sincerely hope the military find them before the police. Scum like that deserve kicking to within an inch of their pathetic lives and leaving in a bleeding heap till their wounds turn septic.

Or put them in a crashed plane and burn them. (Just read an eye-witness account of a pilot and navigator trapped and burning to death in a crashed Mosquito - 'Terror in the Starboard Seat')

This is just the lowest of the low and makes you wonder what this country has come to. Thousands of American airmen gave their lives over Europe in the fight against Fascism and these scum cannot respect even a war memorial, the selfishness of these people is indescribeable, i cannot actually put into words how outrageous this is to me.

Do you think this type of crime is peculiar to modern times? Whilst it is indeed despicable, a lack of conscientiousness amongst the thieving fraternity is not a recent phenomenon.

I did hear a case on the radio the other morning of another memorial stolen for scrap value. This must have been a newer one though, it was a bronze outer over plastic, so worth very little.

That's fiction, but I take your point. Every society in all ages has had thieves, although some more than others.
