Just out of curiosity, what makes you say that?

Resell value I’m guessing?

Reason I ask is that I have a 106 that’s had 5 owners including me which is going up for sale in the next day or two.

Buy on condition, number of owners and mileage are in the main meaningless so long as the car has been cared for.

Lots of things can increase the number of owners without ever having changed the number of drivers.

For example, the car could have been pre-registered by the dealership and then sold to the lease company that's two 'owners' who will have never driven the car. If the person leasing the car then bought it from the lease company at the end of the lease that would be another owner, if it was moved from one company to another that would be another owner. So it's possible that the same person drove the car from 2002 until, say, 2006 but it had 3 or 4 'owners'.

I wouldn't immediately rule out a car that has had 6 owners in 8 years.

Also you could try and contact the person who owned it before the current seller and see if there was anything wrong with it when he/she got rid.

Very true. My 1998 Mondeo had only two previous owners when I bought it last year - but more scratches and dents than you can poke a stick at.

If the service history checks out, there are no problems with it and its priced at the lower end of the price range, cant see a reason why not.

Yes when you come to sell it, it will be a little harder to sell, but thats why its cheaper to buy

How long did each of the last owners own the car?

Also what kind of money are we talking

Well it just shows that you are keeping that average of approx 1 owner per year, do you think that the buyer after you shold be wary of the fact that you only owned the car for a year before selling?

Buy the car on it's individual condition and service history, number of owners is almost irrelevant.

I've found lots of sporty cars seem to have lots of previous keepers, usually people 'trying out' a particular model before selling on.

i wouldnt worry about the number of owners in less it was 6 in 3 months not in 8 years.

one of my cars has 8 owners, dealer, Father, 3 sons, 2 cousins so technically 1 family since new always serviced at the same garage - now that to me was a selling point rather than have 4 owners who never knew each other an part service history from a multitude of different garages.

its got service history up to 92k miles (miles at the moment 106k)

and it has only 5 owners and not 6, So if i was to buy it i would be number 6 smile

condition of body work has 2 minor dents 3-4mm which hopefully could get tapped out

tyres are 5mm plus all round

seats look very well considering 106k miles done on driver seat (person must of been very small or had a small a**e)

got all the toys, memory seats, heated seats, sat nav, tv etc etc

I'd be suspect if that service @92k was more than about a year ago ;-)

I HPI checked a car that I saw in the classifieds here earlier today. The report came back as having had 10 owners. This is on a car registered in 1999. However, the car has done 150k+ and isn't too expensive so the number of owners seems fairly irrelevant.

I brought my car with 1 owner, in 13 years. It was a mess, scratched on every panel. Number of owners, as has been said already, is mostly meaningless.

I think my golf from '91 had either 16 or 18!

Perfect time to use the good old saying; "one careful owner, the rest didn't give a fk!"
