Brake Disc Dimensions

Can someone please explain the disc dimension to me.

I believe I have Tarox Sport Japan discs which are 283x24x55 (does that sound right?)

I need a new pair, but want to make sure I get the right ones, so I intend to measure them first, but would like to know what those figure really mean.

Stupid question I know...

These are Sierra Cosworth 500 front discs (not 4x4). The 283 is the overall diameter in mm, 24mm is the thickness of the disc (one braking face to the other) 55mm is the overall height of the disc including the hub section.

That sounds right as I thought I had the Cosworth brake discs (trouble is I just wasn't sure which one).

Right just need to order some now
