Front end repair
Discussion
If you're replacing the front end, maybe £5k for the material, £2k labour? A guess based on estimates I've seen for other TVRs.
As for who to do it, I would recommend Tom Horsburgh near Guildford. An absolute craftsman, and TVR specialist.
You looking at the £12k Tuscan as advertised in Autotrader?

Just curious but I thought it would end up costing GBP18.5-19k in total (sorry no pound key on the bloody machine).
Having a friend of mine look at a few cars while I'm away. We are on the verge of going down Cerbera St due to the V8, unless I/fellow Ph'er can think of a way to get a S6 serviced in/from the U.S.
What are the service intervals on the S6?

service every 6k or 12 months.getting hold of a diagnostics disc isn't difficult but if the car needs something other than routine maintenance i'm sure tvr would fly someone out there.
looking at your pretty impressive garage i'll wager a guess that you could afford it
Those are MR2 based reps, came out quite well didn't they?

Hmm, do you think a TVR mechanic would fix my motor in return for a weeks holiday in Miami?

I am very close to losing my mind here. Even though the roads are as boring as you can get, speed does indeed matter. Went to test a few Evo VIII examples as my mate is buying one this week which made the pain worse. Christ, even considered a Exige or Speedster last night. However, if I'm going to do something extreme, it's got to be all or nothing.
If you boys/girl were in my shoes, what would you go for and why?

The advert says front AND rear damage.....
Well my feeble attempts at being subtle failed with my fellow PHers then

If it was a going to be a bargin I wouldn't want to broadcast it. Seeing as I'm away from home I need to be as swift and stealthy as possible when a bargin is around.
As for the rest of you, stay off that bloody Autotrader

As for the Cobra...... Nice, seen a few here but it's not the same as having something you really want, in RHD and knowing nobody else will have.

This kind of "elite servicing" might end up costing more than the car in a relatively short space of time though hence why we are leaning toward the V8.

The Rover V8 based cars (Chimaera, Griffith etc.) are easier to service and its likely that many of the US shops could handle them.
That said, you should just go and get a Cerbera....

nooo! get a tuscan, people will think your an a-list star and you can take the roof off so people will see your face and you'll be an instant fanny magnet!
as nice as a cerbera is it just doesn't have that hollywood appeal that a tuscan has, plus you can't take the roof off so no-one will no who you are unless you drive like ace ventura!
oh and they drive pretty good too!(should have mentioned that):

I thought the early Cerbs ran the RoverV8. Ah bugger it. 6k miles is so easy to run up in the states so it might be an idea to contact a TVR mechanic to work out some sort of deal.
Jeremey, I've always thought your Cerb was the prefect colour. It's the one I am planning on going for. Why don't you send it over and every 6k miles I'll send it back to you to service

Cheers,
We've sent a few emails back and forth but I didn't go into detail about his servicing as I was set on the Tuscan.
Will send him an email tonight to see if I can salvage something. Been on the phone to Blighty today discussing Exiges. Really not the way I want to go but it has to be British and it has to be wild.
What say you the jury?

Hey there Mara, how goes it?
Assume you mean the new Exige as the K-series one isn't allowed in, even under the new show-car/limited mileage regulations. Unless of course you go for the Honda conversion. Or, even better, the Audi engined Esthi....
