Ted,
This wouldn't have anything to do with my recent post:
[missquote]
Just finished recutting State of the planet with Sir David, who's reworded most of it, including the following nuggets,

'Scaling down excesses in consumtion'
'Preservation of biodiversity'
'surely responsibility to leave for future generations a planet that's healthy, inhabitable by all species'
There's loads of stuff like this, very green, very anti car..
[/missquote]

Didn't have the front to ask him if he actually beleived all that bollox though!!

Very witty CarZee!!

For the benifit of those not privvy to each and every thread on here, the end of my planetary ejaculation included something about wanting to sell my car,
I replied to the post immediately with '...NOT'.

However CarZee's post was quite funny. I laughed 'till I stopped.

Here Tis:

Any one want to buy a dirty, thirsty, poluting, natural resource destroying monster?

Nope - he'll be no use at all when he's not President of the USA anymore

Once again someone at pistonheads comes up with more justification for doing chuff all. Basically there's no point because a) well a few hundred politicians have bigger cars than me so the rest of us millions should do nothing b) the people in india have lots of dirty cars so.. well I'll do nothing c) people who stand up for environmental causes are a bit whiffy and..WHY AREN'T THEY NORMAL LIKE ME?? They're weird so lets do nothing and d) there's no other way round this, we've GOT to drive, so we're doomed - lets do nothing.

Oh goody we've got a lentil cruncher to razzz!!!
See the following details for real emission figures (Backed up by Governmental figures, EU figures and UN figures by the way!!) NOT statistics read deliberately out of context to "prove" some non-existant theory or a political axe to grind. See also www.vision.net.au/~daly/ for some more opinions......
quote:

"The current road tax scheme is based on a sham anyway. 97% of global carbon dioxide emissions is from natural sources, and of the remaining 3%, only one-seventh is from cars. That's 0.4% of the total. If all cars on the planet disappeared overnight, it would be next to impossible to measure any change in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. The maximum drop would be 0.00015% by volume, and in reality it would be less. Of course, there would be no impact on climate change whatsoever."
Right, where's there a tree hugging lentil basher I can quote this lot to ! .... {sigh} ... never one around when you need one ....

Products of digestion.

Grazing animals release methane to the environment as a result of herbaceous digestion.. Ban cows.

Fish pooh. (..sorry Christians) Ban fish.

Soil microbes.

Rice cultivation. I kid you not - the largest contributer of methane (don't know if it's all those blokes bent double - bad mental picture sorry).

Termites, deforestation, ranching, and farming, is causing termite numbers to expand.

Landfill, don't throw anything away.

Ozone - whilst absorbing harmful ultraviolet radiation, it's also highly concentrated around cities (chlorofluorocarbons) - it's toxic to living organisms.

I could go on forever.

Though by far the worst: McDonalds. Ban Mcdonalds.

I don't care. I'm going to put my new clutch in, top up and drive down to Cornwall and watch the surfers.

Even if the planet is getting warmer (on dubious evidence), who's to say its not part of a natural cycle. Eventually it'll peak & then start sliding down towards the next Ice Age, perhaps...

In the meantime, enjoy your toys and put in an order for a 007 stylee motor that does the speedboat/submarine/snowmobile conversion thing so that you can cover all your bases.
