Vented battery

Bit of a dilema here.......
The Griff has a totally knackered battery. We got the spec for a replacement battery from Tony at Hexham (thanks Tony) with the intention of sourcing a battery locally. This has proved tricky as vented batteries seem nigh on impossible to get.

So, the question is:
Does anyone know the ramifications of temporarily fitting a non-vented battery to the Griff until it goes south for its next service when the correct unit can be fitted?

The desire to take the Griff to a function next weekend is pressing us to consider living with a non-vented battery for a while.

Aren't all batteries sealed units these days anyway?

Not all.

I put a sealed 072 in my Chim, why would you want anything else?

So did I. Just remember to seal up the hole that the vent pipe used to occupy, as its into the front wheel arch and in wet weather it might drip in.
