Do any of you guys keep your DSLR in the car or anything like that? I'm thinking about taking mine with me if I head out anywhere, put it in the boot, or maybe the glove box incase I see something interesting to shoot..

Yep, dSLR in the car whenever I'm in it together with a Ricoh compact whenever I'm out and about.

I took the DSLR out with me today.. Drove for about an hour to a great piece of driving road, it goes in between two mountains. I was ready to take some great shots, when I got the image on my SD card still poking out of the side of my iMac. I pulled over, opened the camera.. No SD Card!

I could've cried! banghead

Take my camera with me everywhere, well, except to the loo. Don't take all my gear, as I would need a donkey with a trailer, just the stuff I need for that day.

Checklist:

Are the batteries charged?
Is the appropriate lens/filters/stuff in the camera bag?
Are there memory cards?

As they say though, you learn by your mistakes wink

S*ds Law, I am commuting between Herts and Norfolk, one end of the week by car and the other by bike. The camera seems always to be at the wrong destination........

That would mean, logically, you have a pile of cars builing up at one end and a pile of bikes building up at the other...? You need to sell some of these cars and bikes and buy a second camera!

I try - but on those occasions when I don't - that's when I want it.

I used to but I don't anymore. I'll only ever take the camera with me if I know I'll be able to use it at the right time of day (dawn & dusk). Else I just end up with snap shots and reportage style photos, which does bugger all for me.
