XJS Gas strut for bonnet

Sorry guys, I have tried the search facility but no joy; does anyone have the link to the Jag XJS gas strut mod for the bonnet please?

I've had to retighten the self-tappers from rime to time, but otherwise, no.

You need to have good bonnet hinges as the strut is powerful enough to take up any slack and "twist" the bonnet catch into refusing to release.

I also used a drilled stud for the top mount with a washer and "R" pin which could easily be removed to allow the strut to slide off and the bonnet to hinge fully forward when the wheels are on blocks... I'll attach a photo later...

I just take out the bottom bolt to get the bonnet vertical, but that is a better solution right enough.

Until, if you're like me, you lose the R-clip...

Top quality plus you can let out the Nitrogen to soften, therefore only create the required force to keep the bonnet/boot up....Unfortunatley quite expensive...just paid £186 for 2 pairs for Chim & Tuscan boots.

Typically after adding the pic of the strut, the black plastic ending on the lower mount snapped off (it gets kind of twisted each time and is rigid plastic so I suppose it was inevitable) luckily its an M6 screwthread and I happen to have a load of 6mm female rose joints and one fitted perfectly (I shortened it slightly but otherwise it was a screw-on replacement) so if anyone else has had this problem or wants to avoid the problem I have a number of these joints and will bring some along to SCH...
