Just a nice simple one for you - I need a new memory card as the one used now is poached from the compact. Had a look on Amazon (seems to be cheapest) and there are a few cheap ones that get good reviews. However, when you delve deeper you find a lot of 1 star reviews with horror stories of losing all the data. Any particular makes to go for? I was looking at sandisk but this further raised the question of class 4 or 6. Having not used Burst mode in anger yet and only having a lowly class 2 anyway I've no idea which to go for. Is it worth the extra (23 vs 17 for an 8gb) for the class 6?

Whichever you choose I wouldn't use a market place or auction site. There are many legitimate sellers, but also rogue cards. I wouldn't be happy losing my pictures over saving £2...

Personally, Samsung, Lexar and Sandisk cards are in my stuff at the moment smile

Well as someone pointed out in a comment I read, why spend half a grand on a camera and skimp a few quid on a card! 8gb Class 6 ought to do for now smile

Sainsburys are doing a deal on Samsung cards in store, got an 8Gb Class 4 card for £13, it claims to be magnet proof, water and shockproof too.

Please don't buy from ebay or Amazon, they're both full of fake cards.

It was possibly me who commented recently on using crap cards with good glass and cameras. I also mentioned how some clients of mine lost all their shots from a trip to new york. I tried to get them back using recovery software but the card wont even be read now. Totally dead. Be warned...
