Sound recording
Discussion
Hi
I've posted on here a few times and some of you may know me. My name's Jerry Ibbotson and I run a company that produces sound effects for video games. We do a lot of car recordings and are currently on a project where I need a 6 cylinder car. My first thought ( honest ) was of a TVR, as I've never heard a bad one!
The recording would take place at a venue near Wakefield in West Yorkshire, using a system called DynaPack (like a rolling road without rollers). You'd get to hear you car in a game and receive some MP3 files, a power reading and some expenses money.
Anyone fancy it? We're holding two day-long sessions next week (the 28th and 29th) but there will he more in a few weeks' time.
I'd love to hear back from anyone.

If you might be interested in a 12-cylinder car, go to www.RV8R.co.uk and click on the upper YouTube link. I have the original tape available which has a lot more nice sounds on it.

What you really want is a TVR that's decatted and has a sport exhaust.

And the way sounds are recorded for game cars is by taking a recording of the engine at different revs. So a sample is taken at idle, 2000,4000,6000,7000 etc etc in whatever increments are best. These sounds are then blended and some jiggery pokery is applied and you get a smooth acceleration sound in game. Atleast thats one of the methods.
Granted it does sound AWESOME in reality though.
