I woke up this morning, looked out the window and had an epiphany (could have been last nights Jalfrezi).
There is light at the end of the tunnel, I'm turning more and more bullish every day.
I really think we have seen a turn and sentiment and the economy is about to change, I fancy a massive rally 2nd half of the year.

All the bad news is priced in. Just look at sterling. Firm as a donkey's ******** , Volcano effect, GDP, Banking, Hung Parliment... ALL priced in.

What about inflation? That has risen faster than expected and surely recent events will push it higher.

I am not ready to join you under the bullish tree just yet!

Inflation up.

And the underlying problem of vast amounts of debt has been sorted?

No, inflation and debt are still there, but the markets have priced this in, order books and Cap ex is improving. By the time everyone says things have improved you would have missed 20%, hence why I'm bullish now.
Just my two penneth.

How do you know the markets have priced this in (EMP)?

We have on an upward trend since 2009, how long do you think it can continue?

I'm feeling bearish.

History tells us that we are in for ten years of austerity.

The country is up to its ears in debt. People do not seem to understand the impact that this has and the politicians seem reluctant to discuss it.

Already 40% of income tax is going on interest payments. Present plans will double this. Unless the economy really takes off, which is unlikely, then in a couple of years 70% of income tax will be going up in smoke.

All of the three main parties are ignoring the problem, so we will just stand idly by while we wait for the IMF.

I’m feeling snakeish.

I predict an economy that’s lower than a snakes belly and will probably prove poisonous when the past decade comes back to bite us.

On the back of apparently increasing t/o and profit I'm hoping to increase wages by 6% later this year. Last rise was 2008 and is an annual rise which was foregone by staff in 2009 due to economic climate.

Lol.

The last 'boom' was smoke & mirrors built on debt....debt we nationalised.

Are you referring to the banks? If so, then you are wrong. The banks cost peanuts to rescue compared to Labour's support for the non-working class.

In fact, the bank bail outs will probably show a profit.

I'm not so sure, the history of gov intervention in banking and private sector losses is a poor one...it didn't work too well for Japan etc.

We'll see. We have not seen all of this financial crisis yet.

I'm pretty bearish, cutting this deficit back is almost certainly going to have a negative effect on the still weak economy, so will putting rates up to combat inflation if that starts to get silly.

Anyone else think we're on for the double dip still?

Rates is gonna be a killer.

I don't think our nascent housing 'recovery' is going to fare well.

Reports in today's papers claim that the Bundesbank is printing Deutsche Marks as a contingency measure, Gordon Brown is in line for the IMF top job when its current French incumbent leaves in a year or two, and The Translator is heading off to Madrid.
