Indicator lenses, I don't understand.

Hi guys, I am gonna start this by stating that I am not trying in any way to take anything away from grahamS2 who has obviously done a great job of sourcing a replacement for a previously unavailable part. Nice one Graham .
The thing is I just don't understand why so many of you want them in the first place .
I removed my original front indicators some time ago in order to replace them with the Ford Maverick/Nissan Terrano units which actually FIT into the recess on the body and look like they were designed to be there (I have also replaced the square side repeaters with the oval type ala Chim/Griff but thats another story).
Do none of you guys look at the standard nasty Leyland Sherpa thing and think it just looks wrong?
I mean the size is wrong, the profile is wrong and that lip around the edge that does absolutely bog all apart from provide a weak point to attract stones and make the front of the car look scruffy again when it inevitably gets damaged?

• I would like to say at this point that I have just read back and it's starting to sound like a rant. Sorry about that, it's not a rant just got a little carried away

So, is it a case of just wishing to keep your S looking original?
I mean, these cars are never going to be concourse, if they get used as they should, because there are some parts which just are not available anymore, (although nothing is impossible as Graham has proven), such as original shocks and original early trailing arms. In the case of these parts for example everyone seems happy to replace with a modern/upgraded/improved item so why oh why are these nasty bloomin indicators so important?

p.s. I still have my originals and a spare pair of Ford/Nissan ones, on a shelf, should I ever need them.

Although I can see why people want original items, I think that prices have just got silly. For me, they just aren't worth it.

All credit to Graham for organising as new replacements, for those who want them, but even then, they just don't do anything for me personally.

Have to admit that, although I was one of the first to change mine (for Kia Pride ones) as a result of the originals becoming obsolete, I wouldn't go back to the originals. The replacements fit better and look better, in my opinion.

my site has the nissan terranno ones shown. The Kia ones look the same but sit a little further back so need the end of the plastic trim filled

I think the originals are a bit too fragile, seen so many damaged ones. Both of mine were chipped and cracked around the edges so I just ground the flanges off and refitted them, I think they look just fine. I'll keep the spares I have safe in case originality becomes an issue when I come to sell.
