Have a look at this one - seems to have had an interesting time with the elderly owner. Plenty of life left in it I bet. Cheap motoring for 12 months

My sister has the old shape alto, driven it quite a bit,

In a way its st, but in a way its the perfect evolution of a car. 100% reliable, its been hammered everywhere, missed services, stolen by a drunk, about 2 or 3 small crashes, driven up dirt roads etc

In the last 20,000 miles its needed one headlight and one sde light bulb.

You will get 50 mpg even if you hammer it everywhere, which you will as its somewhat slow. And in a way its quite fun to drive as you can hammer it with out worrying about speeding.

Insurnce is cheap, tax is £35 a year, parts are cheap, a new wheel £35, new tyre £35. Boot struts £20, Bumpers £65 and thats new direct from suzuki dealers.

Decent kit, central locking, elecrtic windows, cd player

Down sides being its very small so pedestrians will cut you up (serious), and its not overly comfy, even worse in the back.

hi cheers for the replies, all i need is something small for a 6ml commute, mix of A+B roads, 99% of the time its just me in it. i am sort of leaning towards the alto, but a quick drive around the block sometimes is not enough to give a proper feel of how the car will be to live with.
