have you tried campagnolo shifters? you might be able to find something with mirage on for around £700
also have a look at somewhere like ribble where you can spec the bike how you want it, this means that you can save a bit of money by speccing sora stuff all over the bike and then tiagra shifters. their 7005 frame or winter audax frames are pretty sound and very popular. not particularly bling but if thats not an issue go for it?

Did look at the Boardman last week, however was very put off as the guy in there did not have a clue and tried to wing it, they are meant to have a Boardman trained technician, this guy told me the whole range had 18 gears and the silver rear wheel was standard on the Comp. The wheel was from a completely different bike.
Looking at Ribble also I guess i may have to spend a bit more or get something cheaper and then change the shifters.
Been trying to find some good deals on 2009 models but most places appear to be sold out of them.

Another one to consider... Tiagra, carbon alloy fork £699
They'll build it up from the frame with whatever you want to your price & spec. They seem reasonable value and the frames are used by some of the UK olympic athletes as well as the comic releif ones on their cycle trip...

The boardman is a Tiagra/105 mix for £699... Everyone has had the same experience with the halfords saturday guy, yet everyone who has the bikes loves them. Would try not to let one useless assistant be a reflection on the Boardman Range... Rather a reflection of Halfords Bike Staff.

having just read what i assume to be your thread (because its basically a carbon copy of this post) on bikeradar, where you went to halfords and pretended to be a novice, know nothing about the bike etc etc, you deserve everything you got. you only post here and on bikeradar to fuel the anti-boardman bullsLooking at Ribble also I guess i may have to spend a bit more or get something cheaper and then change the shifters.

t and now we know you have never ridden one, we can be sure that any comments about their ride and quality are based solely on looking at one in the shop....you probably knew all the answers to the questions you asked but just thought you would be the big man and lord it over the sales staff to get a bit of a thrill... sorry but you are quite a sad individual if thats how you get your kicks...

t!I have never suggested that i had ridden one so would not be able to comment on the ride quality, that is why i went there. I wanted to get further information and look for a test ride, everyone on bikeradar suggests that you should ride before buying. On the basis on this why would i be looking to fuel the anti-boardman bulls
t, i have better things to do with my time that actively visit a store an waste 1/2hr of time to 'lord it' over sales staff.The above post is a response to someone suggest Boardman and my experience in the shop. I would very much like to go to a store and speak to someone that knows what they are talking about, this clearly seems to much to ask for some people, espcially the vast majority on bike radar.
