And take your rubbish home, I'm sure you will. Round here they frequently leave all the bottles (sometimes broken, cans and occasionally even the crappy tent that cost a £1 somewhere. So a beauty spot can become a rubbish tip overnight once the chavs get there. Oh, they usually try to have a fire but broken branches off saplings don't burn well, not even for Tarzan.
Do not underestimate the value of insulation from the ground. (even if it's just a rug between you and a groundsheet)
Don't get cold, it's much easier to keep warm than get warm.
It is quite likely you won't get much sleep the first night due to strange noises then daylight coming in, by day two you'll be too knackered to care.
Leave your site looking as if you'd never been there (if you're planning a fire dig out a turf and replace when you go).
Many tents are fire resistant, this does not mean they can not catch fire. Think safe when using flames/stoves/lamps etc
If you need to s
t outside remember to bring tissue paper and a trowel as it is never pleasant to find someone else's turd whilst out walking.

What's wild camping? Is it just a long name for camping or is it something different?
Near me it's usually a group of young people who party all night and get wrecked somewhere nice and beautiful and then the next day they'll leave all the trash behind them. I've no issues with the party aspect, I used to do that but we always took our rubbish home. Nowadays they leave it behind for others to behold. As far as I know, technically wild camping isn't legal in England - you need the landowner's permission. However, in areas like the Lake District it is generally agreed that you can camp where you like as long as you're above the highest wall, so on the tops/moors/peaks rather than in a field.
Wherever you camp, the same basic rule applies - leave no evidence of your stay.
