Hello
I doubt that anyone will remember me, as I was never a very big poster. I'm up in Northumberland and I had an Chrome Orange S1 Elise and then a Silver S1 Exige a few years ago. Since then I've had a 911 but I'm now pleased to report that I couldn't stay away and picked up another S1 Elise in Azure Blue yesterday. Just need to look at a possible dodgy wheel bearing and new shock (won't be able to resist an S2 suspension kit if that's the case) but when they're fixed I'm sure I'll be out and about in it.
Cheers

How did you find like with the 911? (Obviously not that great as you're back with an Lotus). I've come from TVR and I must admit I really miss a burbly sounding engine and an adjustable rear end, my dad has a Carrera 2 and its really nice although maybe a bit 'remote' - I've only driven it once and if I was to criticise it it felt a bit like a 'very nice, light, BMW', just a really nice car, rather than a Lotus or TVR which are a 'truly different experience' every drive, not really like normal cars at all. Part of my longs to get back to a TVR, part of me thinks I should be sensible and get a 911 and part of me wants to keep the Lotus for ever, possibly by sticking a Honda in the back......
Well I'm keeping the 911 for now. The plan is that I buy a cheap Elise, which is what I've done, and then if I want to make a permanent jump, I sell the 911 and buy something like an Audi Exige if I can find one. My 911 is a 996 C4S. When I first got it it felt like the fastest thing on four wheels. you just had to touch the accelerator and you'd be at 80 or so. Of course, over time you get used to that. The thing is, I never loved it like I loved my Elise. I use it every day for going to work in and I'm fortunate enough to have a 20 mile each-way commute over interesting minor rural roads. But the thing is that I know I'm in a car that cost me (at the time) five times what I sold my Elise for, which does low 20s mpg (Elise was 36) on tyres that cost £1000 per set (Elise about £250 per set) and I'm not having five times the fun. And I don't think the packaging is good. The 911 is quite a big car but doesn't really have that much space for stuff inside. The two boots are about the same I reckon (although admittedly a 2-wheel drive 911 would have more storage).
