How much for a good 300CE-24?

Been looking round for these, dont seem to be many about, are they getting collectable now?

What sort of figures for a sound one with around 100k and FSH?

Very hard to say !

The established specialists will charge 5-6k for a nice condition car .

Is there any pressing reason why you`re after a 300-24 . The 12 valve 300 CE is a more reliable engine (the 300-24 is prone to head gasket issues ) or the later 320CE / E 320 coupe may be a better bet . Good cars in private sales shouldn`t be more than £3k and always consider condition , history and originality over mileage . 200,000 is really nothing to worry about if well maintained .

In my ignorance I had thought that the 300ce-24 was the 'range-topper' with most power etc and was the best model to plump for. Given the prices I have seen mediocre examples up for this re-affirmed my view of them as the 'top spec model!

Having gone away and looked at the stats I see that the e320 is actually quite a bit more torquey. Would you choose a 320 over a 300-24 then?

Yes , I would on the basis that they`re newer , have great build quality and have twin airbags etc associated with the latter development of the model .

Go for the 6 cylinder rather than the 4 if you can , although I had an E220 coupe and could get 40mpg on a run out of it .

The older cars ( 230 , 300 and 300-24 ) have a slightly nicer grille ( more chrome) , but the later cars are my choice .
