Record Year for Lamborghini
40th anniversary proved a success - now Manchester gets a dealer too
Automobili Lamborghini SpA has confirmed its official 2003 factory figures. It built (and selling) a record 1305 cars last year. That's 425 Murciélagos and 890 Gallardos.
Lamborghini London, the sole official dealer in the UK expects to take 10% of production in 2004. The UK market, together with Japan, is the third largest behind the USA and Germany. In 2003, Lamborghini London delivered 35 of the Lamborghini Murciélago V12 super cars. First deliveries of the new V10 Lamborghini Gallardo commenced in December. The company will deliver around 100 Gallardo units during 2004.
“The Lamborghini Murciélago, and now the Gallardo, have confirmed Lamborghini’s continuing position as the ultimate aspirational marque, providing the combination of design, technology and build quality that performance car customers demand ,” said general manager of Lamborghini London, Dominic Lancaster. “As a result Lamborghini’s market share has grown significantly in the UK and worldwide, whilst the relatively low volumes produced assures its exclusivity .”
The USA accounted for 425 units (295 Gallardo and 130 Murciélago) in 2003, taking 33% of Lamborghini’s market worldwide. Germany follows the USA, responsible for approximately 20% of Lamborghini sales. Automobili Lamborghini more than tripled its sales in 2003 compared to 424 units in 2002. In 1996, Automobili Lamborghini sold a total of 211 cars worldwide.
H.R. Owen Plc will open a second Lamborghini dealership in Manchester later this year, providing both sales and service. An additional allocation of vehicles will be sold via this north of England outlet.

Go Lambo! Murcielago esp, SUCH a cool car.... engine is worth the asking price alone!
I assume you had a good week-end then?!?
Yeah! But I still want to race against an F40 to see how they compare. PS mate - tried to ring Jason about the black one we've got - where is he? I couldn't get through
PPS. Neon lights? Well it's different. Regardless the Murky is along with the F40 the one car that I've driven that requires no help attracting attention especially with the ol' tubi zorst.

Anyone going to Geneva?
The Murci Barchetta is being unveiled - and unlike the Diablo Roadster - it looks awesome.
Might have to put a deposit down on it.
And who knows - there might evan be a sighting of the Bugatti????
Anjum - do you know if it will it be a "convertible" a la 360 Spider or a "fixed convertible" like the 550 Barchetta?

I'm not sure Manu - I hope it's NOT like the Diablo roadster - which IMHO was hideous. I believe that there may be "some" form of weather protection - but I'm kinda hopin' it'll be a Lamborghini baseball cap!
hee hee hee!

Won't be too practical in the UK then... and one thing that was pointed out to me yesterday was that if it's only showerproof as per the 550 Barchetta, then look at what happened to their desirability and residuals!!

The problem with the 550 barchetta was the fact that it wasn't designed to be a barchetta from the start - and so it was very bendy - not a patch on a boggo 550.
I was shocked when I got to drive one (which I was about to buy - so always try before you buy kids!) - but for me the most offensive aspect was the two ludicrous helmets provided - I'm a slaphead - but I'd NEVER wear those. Ever.
Anjum - pretty sure its a copy of the diablo roadster 'lift off and stack on top' roof panels' system - which worked amazingly well, even if the car did end up looking all a*se and no nose (IMO anyway!)
should be at Geneva at least one day - do you when you'll be there?
