It recently occured to me what an utterly vile piece of vermin Ed Balls is... Second only to Mandelson.

His Tory rival is trying to raise support to subject him to a 'Portillo Moment' on May 6th. Which I think would be an excellent result. While I am not a supporter of the Tories I admit I donnated a tenner to the campaign... It would be worth it to see the Look on his face on May 6th if he gets booted out of Parliament all together...

Well, I agree that the political 'marketeers' still have a lot to learn when it comes to the web and online marketing...

Essentially any political campaign can be won with enough cash..... Campaigns, leaflets, websites, door knocking, advertising, spin, press releases... they all require hard currency at the end of the day... and the more of it you do... the more votes you win....

This is how Obama got in the USA... instead of small numbers of HUGE donations he got thousands of modest donations from individuals. Seven years before he came president he couldn't afford to rent a car!

Balls Campaign is being bank rolled by the Unions... so it will take people power to overcome his campaign and boot him out...

Don't get me wrong, I hate Balls as much as the next man. Providing the next man is Milliband.

Surely this 'campaign' doesn't need money, it needs a Facebook presence.

Well yea.... it needs FB, Twitter the lot... it amazes me how out of touch the political campaign directors are with modern media...

I guess the crux of the matter is that Balls is a nationally hated figure... up there with the Millibands and Mandelson.... but only people living in his constituency can actually vote to get him out...

what this campaign does is harness the nationwide contempt for Balls... and while most of us can't cast a vote (because we live in other constituencies)... we can cast some cash... which will essentially help to win more votes among the eligable voters who live nearby...

I would bet money on the fact that if this campaign went big... and raised enough... Balls would lose his seat... which would not only create a million smiles... but would be really good for the country...

Why aren't you a supporter of the tories, because if you are not, you might as well vote Balls

If I were in Ed Balls constituency I might be tempted to vote for him. He is one of the most loathsome of all the Labour ministers. May he end up leading the Labour party hehe

Well I would say I am a supporter in terms of supporting them in their election campaign to oust Labour. But I am not a card carrying member or donor. It's obvious they will be much better than Labour when they come to power... thats a given... but I don't expect them to go very far in terms of fixing the Labour mess...

We can still expect awful fuel prices, excessive taxation, poor roads, safety camera partnerships, a muddled immigration policy... etc etc (I would love to be proved wrong of course)

In the UK, products advertised for sale are not allowed to say "Don't by the other brand, it's crap!", they only rely on singing the praises of themselves.

The Political Parties should be the same.

As soon as you rely on your undermining of your opponent to try any gain your favour, you've discredited yourself, IMO.

I agree... but they all do it... when it comes to Labours cronies... just describing them honestly will come accross as insulting them... there is nothing good to be said about them!
