Shiney Nuts

I bought some new wheel nuts from the 'Performance Car Shop' last year. Whilst they were ok, and cheap enough, they are now ready to be replaced and I want to get some proper stainless ones this time.

Any suggestions for a supplier (they are 1/2" UNF by the way)?

I would not use stainless for that application particularly when I contact with the high tensile steel hub nuts you are better of with coated ones, stainless is not that strong TBH and easy to crack if over tightened.

I purchased some stainless capped nuts from the States. 1/2" unf is std fitment for Jeep and its derivatives. Search flee bay. shoud be apprx £45 inc delivery

What's gone wrong with them ive fitted a set tonight £37 ebay?

They are what they are Pal. I thought at the time (and still do) that they are good value, but will need changing every 12 months.

Just fancy hope some proper stainless ones. I hope someone can point me in the right direction?

Will check with a friend but am fairly certain he has a full set of shiney nuts he had on his T350 before he refurbed the wheels in shadow chrome, if so will see if he wants to sell them.

Hi mate,

I have a set of stainless wheels nuts on my cerb, and I have the receipt from www.shinynuts.co.uk, dated april 2005. They are still in excellent condition and would recommend them even if they are on the expensive side. The set bought by the previous owner came in at just over £100, but well worth it as they still look brand new 5 years on.

It is a great shame the stainless Shiny Nuts ceased being produced; they were a great product and look a treat. I seem to remember it being said that the manufacturing costs made production viability doubtful, even using far east contractors? I honestly cant see that they were in any sense of the word 'weak' compared to a run of the mill wheel nut

I've just bought some polished stainless steel cover-caps off ebay for £10 and they look great, if you can't find proper quality nuts, these are much better value alternative. Fit nice and tightly over the original nuts and you would never spot that they are not the proper £100+ nuts.

I have a spare set of secondhand shiney nuts I bought last year to go on my car cost me £60 and I have not fitted them I could be persuaded to sell them.

I suppose at least with my Griff the crappy rusted nuts are hidden behind a cover.
