Every week or so we have a couple of friends over or we head over to them for food and a bit of a catch up.

Its nothing fancy in the past few months i've cooked, lasagne, chilli, spag bol, spanish chicken in a sauce, a curry, shepards pie.

As you can see - nothing fancy - just some decent grub while we catch up.

But i'm running out of ideas now - anyone got any suggestions on what to do next?

As i say nothgin fancy / expensive just a decent meal.

Oh - one of the party is allergic to eggs......

Meatballs (Italian style or Moroccan Kefta)
Some sort of slow cooked beef dish with loads of red wine.
PIE!!
Baked fish is easy to do
Mexican - tacos or fajitas. Good 'get involved' food

A selection of home made tapas?

Patatas Bravas - easy
Chorizo baked in cider - easy
Spanish Tortilla - easy
Garlic bread - easy
etc

Pates, cold cuts and cheese always goes down well too.

Alternatively, do an omelette.

It'll make it cheaper next time round.

Something I did last night which always goes down a treat.
Cut three or four peppers into slices (green or red)
Place in an oven proof dish with deseeded sliced chilli.
Dice chorizo into 1 cm cubes (best from sauage rather than slices)
Scatter over peppers and chilli and drizzle generously with good olive oil.
Place in oven to bake @ 200 C
Meanwhile cook some pasta bows (farfaline) and when cooked dress generously with chilli & garlic red pesto.
Spoon the baked pepper/chorizo mixture on top of pasta and finish with cubed or grated feta cheese.
Serve with garlic bread.
Nom Nom Nom!

Hmmm thanks for te suggestios guys.

Some good dieas for the next few weeks here!

I'm thinking pie this time - before summer comes around and its not so attractive.

Steak & real ale pie maybe.

with mustard mash.

and i suppose some of them might want vegetables.

I'd suggest a brown ale such as Newcastle Brown for the pie base along with some shin of beef cooked very slowly.
Hot water pastry is also delicious, and not too much of a faff to make.

Yeah i've done one before and used somethign similar to Newcastle Bwon - i've heard that Hobgoblin goes well in a pie as well.

I'll look into the shin.

Sadly for the pastry i'll be copping out and using ready made. paperbag

you'll get shin from a decent butcher and it'll be reasonable value. Slowly is the key to tenderness, with lots of salt and pepper to bring out the beefy flavour.

Yum!

Marinated chicken- anything you have in cupboard

sweet chilli, japanese/chinese stir fry sauces, honey chilli and sesame seed work well together, mango chutney- sticky mango chicken,
you can serve with rice

Another of my favourites is chicken Caesar salad, lettuce, parmesan, dressing and croutons. Simple- plus you can make in advance, chicken can be warm or cold
And you can add anything else you want to it
