Do windscreen claims increase your insurance?
Discussion
Today I have acquired a beautiful 3 inch long crack across my windscreen from the mother of all stones (well it made an awful noise). I've checked my policy details and the windscreen is covered minus the compulsory excess of £80.
Now, the loveable rogues that are the insurance company say it won't affect my no claims but that doesn't necessarily mean they can't use it as an excuse to up the premium does it? Does anyone know if it's standard practice to load the premium for these things? if so I might be cheaper paying for the repair myself.
I Don't suppose anyone knows ballpark figure for a new windscreens on a newage Subarus STi?

all i can advise you is that over the years i have had 3 windscreens replaced with no problems, although saying this when i finaly got my proof of no claims when changing insurers, the previous company had made the point that a windscreen claim had been made. Prior to getting the proof of no-claims i had mentioned to my new insurers that i had a windscreen replaced, they advised that was fine and would not affect anything.
honestly i think your fine although as the previous poster said, its worth mentioning anyway to keep yourself right
cheers

Oddly enough I noticed this a few weeks ago when searching for a renewal...

I had a windscreen replaced last month, after the classic stone chip and heater problem (the day after the chip). Cost me £60 (glass) excess, which I checked with the insurer before doing anything.
Insurance renewal this month. Told them about the windscreen and was told that it has no effect on NCD or premium (this wasn't one of the comparison site insurers).
I was quite pleased in a way as half of the front screen heater elements had packed-up.
Whilst the fitter was there, I also asked him how many times I could get this done, before the insurance company start to bh. He said that 2 or 3 times a year isn't uncommon.

I have recently purchased Insurance for my vehicle and before the new policy started (it starts in 2 weeks time) i had a repair done to my windscreen using my current insurers, after the repair i contacted the new insurance company just in case this should effect my policy, and it did, there was an extra 10% added to my policy premium, what an absolute rip off!!!
I know now that i will not use my insurance company for windscreen repairs in future, windscreen claims may not effect your N.C.D but my premium was most definitely effected.
i am now wondering how many years I will have to pay inflated premiums for?
I have tried to find stand alone cover but so far have not been able to find anyone that does this if you have comprehensive cover!
