HD video - Is my laptop obsolete?
Discussion
Hi all,
I have purchased my wife a Lumix TZ7 in order for her to take nice pictures of our new arrival. One of the feature that made me go for this camera is the HD movie facility. They look great on a screen when I plug the camera directly onto the TV but once downloaded onto the laptop, they become jerky. They sound fine though.
Could it be because my laptop has an old processor in it? It's a 5 year old Celeron M and I seem to have read that a dual core processor would sort it.
What would you guys in the know recommend? New laptop time?
Cheers.

Ouch yes I'm afraid so. The Celeron was a pretty slow processor when it was released. If you're just watching HD video then you need a laptop with at least duel core processor and preferably a half decent graphics chipset.
If you are going to start editing then a I would reccomend a fast quad core processor and a minimum of 4gb of ram.

(It's sad but true - 5 years in CPU years is about 50)
