Hi all,

Having put off getting a boardman bike earlier this year I am back in the Market for a road bike.

My budget is 550, and I have been to a local bike shop to have a look round.

They had a couple of Felt bikes - a Z100 (White frame); and a 2009 F95 team replica.

The Z100 has a compact frame and feels slightly more comfortable but seems to be less well specced.

Has anyone got any experience of these, or able to offer decent alternatives for me to have a look at?

Many thanks..!

no experience of felt, seem ok from the specs and reviews.

the boardman range starts at £700 so unless you can stretch to that, i would say that the flet z100 isnt a bad choice, tredz are doing it for 540 which is a good deal. dont discount the raleigh airlite range, there should be one around 550, htey are good solid bikes and dont get the respect they deserve due to the brand (same situation as the boardman scenario and the halfrods connection)
the specilaized allez and the giant defy 3.5 are worth a look too.

dont get hung up on groupsets and things like that, although its a lot of money for most other things, for a road bike, £550 doesnt stretch that far but the specialized and the giant will be reliable and good bikes. the giant looks like it has the most "race-orientated" geometry which might be comfier, the others look a bit to "sit up and beg" given the height of the head tube (from front wheel to handlebars)

Cheers for the advice - off to pick up a nearly-new boardman road comp off eBay. Can't wait!

Picked it up - Boardman Road Comp 2009 model.

£540 for the bike with a brand new helmet (giro) and a wireless speedo. Needed tweaking which cost me £25 in my LBS. The bike is like new, I'm really happy with it.

Went out for a quick 10 miles last night and the way it glides compared to my MTB is awesome, was easily doing 20mph on the flats smile

Next step is some SPDs, and padded shorts lol.

Anyone a member of any clubs in the Swindon area?
