What a great looking car! The first I'd seen on the open road as it were. Viper blue I think it was (not sure on proper name), gunning down outside lane in at least one gear too low :P

I saw that leave the garage, as I was drooling over Elises at the time. It's HR Owen's demo car, and some lucky swine had managed to get them to give him a go in it...

They've got a nice looking purple one on the forecourt too.

Well, I had a shot of the HR Owen blue one a couple of weeks ago and I also had a shot of the purple car last Saturday. ;-)

The HR Owen staff treat you well IMHO as long as you are genuine - if you can't afford the car or not interested in buying it, they still might take you out as a passenger. One Elise owner got treated to a quick blast before my test drive. The grin on his face was a picture. They might try to convince you to sign on the waiting list before giving you a test drive but you can wiggle out of it.. not that I think you should - I think you should sign on the line now, and test drive the car whenever!

They've actually sold the blue car and bought the purple one as their "new demo car". The purple one is actually 2nd hand and bought off some guy in London who apparently got fed up of speedbumps (I keep worrying about speedbumps..lol.. anyone with experience of em yet!?).

The purple car is not running right - it hunts on idle and the wastegates aren't as loud as the blue car. They reckon power might be down a bit too and said it need a tune up and is probably just a loose hose.

Not sure about the purple, I preferred the blue. The blue/black interior was better (the purple's tan leather doesn't do anything for me).

Anyone else think the start button looks crap? I was expecting something bigger and meaner, and not nearer the passenger!

The waiting list is almost a year now - March 2003, although that's worst case.

Cheers,
-Chris.

Purple Noble

That was my car and I didn't sell it because I was fed up of speed bumps, I sold it because I have effectively left the country and couldn't take the car with me.

Hi guys...

I'm actually lining up to buy the Purple car (like the colour to be honest - just a bit weird like that) - but am a bit worried about it being down on power - although HR Owen tell me they're going to fix this.

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on what to ask for / whether to avoid ?

(i.e. can they fix it ?)

Jay

P.S. Thought the starter button looked a bit crap too....

I'd ask for the upgrade to 345bhp at the factory whilst your at it, like the guy on the yahoo group. You can never have to much power

Apparently this upgrade will be "official" shortly

I doubt this at least not for a while because the gearbox is already running very near it's power limit and this power increase is likely to shorten the life of the gearbox (his warranty is appaerently no valid any longer), plus the fact the factory are too busy trying to get their orders out to waiting customers, but I too would be interested in it but I would be happy just to get my car !
