Adding to my beginner #### ups ..... UV Filters
Discussion
Always had UV Filters on my Video cams so purchased a couple off ebay from my new kit. Anyway probably in a drunken stupour ( my excuse anyway ) I've got myself a couple of A1 Skylight filters instead of UV. They appear to have a slight tint.
Have I screwed up or will they bo OK.
<sigh>

£30? What are they ? Gold plated? No more than £10 surely?
;-)
Actually, I'm not convinced that most people would notice any image degradation anyway other than a possible slight colour cast. Having seen images from lenses with cracks and chips which look absolutely fine (unless there is a light source hitting the fault) I think the worst that you'd suffer would be a slight marginal loss of contrast.
I'd be interested to see some real image quality tests if anyone has some?

I use the lens hood. No point in having a £1000 lens with £30 of cheap glass in front of it.
/\ what he said. As for 'a few quid'
You guys are just perfectionists lol. I've had to sell my Soul to the Devil ( Mrs )to purchase the Cam.I was only allowed £4.95 to purchase the filters. That was each though... Off ebay ....

I was laughed out of the shop when I suggested purchasing a Skylight filter for me recent new lens. Apparently I'm "stuck in the 70s". :s
