Does anyone have experience of getting an F355 in a single standard size garage?

I'm thinking of buying but if I can't get out of the car once its in the garage its a no go

I thought there was no such thing as a standard size for garages.
I've seen reports on Consumer programmes of garages in some brand new estate houses that would be too small to get a Mini in, let alone a TVR.

this is just a suggestion, but given none of us know your garage size it is perhaps the best option

1) go to a DIY shop and buy a tape measure
2) check the back of autocar / a ferrari brochure for the size of a 355
3) see if the garage is big enough

hey presto - dilemma solved! one useful trip is to glue a big piece of foam on the wall and then you can open your door to ease exit without scratching the door!

Most garages seem to be a little small. I am getting a 355 but have to move out of the family home first!!!

Our garage is "relatively average size", but the 355 wouldn't fit easily. We couldn't open the doors enough and I considered that I couldn't be arsed to get in and out via the roof every time. basically the 355 is 191 cm wide and my garage is 235, the door opening is 210, it is a really tight fit.

my door is 220, the max width in the garage is 245 - not sure if this is enough to get out or not?!

With 220, you get less than 6 inches either side of the car, with the mirrors folded in. It really is a mission to get the car in and out, but that may get easier with practice. With 245 inside, even if you get one side of the car very tight to the wall, it still doesn't allow the door to open fully, I think we measured 1/2 metre as not comfortable, but enough to get in and out of the car. Problem is you will constantly be rubbing against the seats etc at akward angles and may end up tearing something or wearing it down unusually. Depending on who you are buying from they may bring it down to your house to see if it fits. (Most official Ferrari dealers agreed to that with me)

Good luck!!

bear in mind that the doors open very wide on 355s. My 348 is virtually the same size and I have resorted to climbing out over the roof before now.

I'm sure its no wider than my 348 with the doors open, I'll measure for you.

We've had a doorway put from our hall into the garage, so you can enter staright from the house. If you have enough room adjacent to open out the space this way then it might solve the problem of the door swinging out.

Yes, top decision. I'm going to have to leave my next beaut on the driveway until the next move!

Craig,

Just picked this one up from an archive search and am going through the samne issue. I know it was a while ago but when you got the 355 did it fit in your garage in the end?

I have just been on a test drive today and had the 355 in my 'standard' sized garage. However I wasn't brave enough to drive it in myself (since I haven't actually bought it yet) and hence could not try getting out of it.

The chap who drove it in was bigger than me and he couldn't get out. (That's why I couldn't try...).

So despite having actually put it in the garage, the question is still unanswered, although it looked very tight.

Richard.

I get my 360 in a single garage a bit of a tight squeeze. I have put carpets down the side of the wall i get out of so i don't scratch the door. Its that tight a fit a have to get someone to fold the wing mirrors in for me. which is a bit of a pain! But well worth it once you get in the car and

My morale of the story I have to loose some weight

Does anyone know of some sort of ramp you could drive your car onto and then whinch back into the garage? Might make things easier

I google'd for winches but haven't turned anything up yet. I'll keep looking and anything I find I'll post back here.

I came across www.winchwarehouse.co.uk who have winches for various applications, although the car would have to be free-wheeled in and hence there'd need to be a suitable place to attach the steel rope. I'd have to get down the other end and push it to get it out though (but I do this on occasion with the TVR, I just can't push it back in that way as there's a very slight incline).

I've sent them an e-mail to see if they have any suggestions.
