New S2

Evening chaps, traded an Impreza WRX for the '89 S2 that'd been gathering dust at Castle's for a while , picked it up few weeks ago but given that since then we've had snow, ice, rain etc only had a chance for few photos last week:





Enjoying it so far, much more fun than the Scooby!

Few bits & pieces need doing although mostly cosmetic & trying to stop leaks , main one though is that I get a very cold right foot when driving - any clues appreciated, can't see any specific holes but there must be something causing it?

Dountless I'll have more questions going forward - car's off to the LM Classic in July so keen to get it in suitable order beforehand.

Your cold foot might be the air duct in the footwell blowing cold air direct from the bonnet intake via those horrible hoses that stretch from the front of the bonnet and through the bulkhead. I'm not sure they should blow through the footwell duct but the ducting might not be original...? you will be able to close the duct if its that...

Thanks - I'll have a look tomorrow evening. Couldn't see anything obvious from the footwell so makes sense to look from the other side.

Maybe, I get quite a bit of water pooling on the doorsills when it's been standing (not had a chance to get a cover yet - soon as it dries it rains again) may all be connected?

Although should there be visible seals where the leading edege of the door meets the bulkhead / door frame?

Hi TC

I have added you to the Ownerrs list (S2 #38) - hope thats OK ?

The air ducts on my car behind the dash were all twisted and split so if yours are the same it could be blowing cold air down from behind the dash onto your foot if its not the duct in the outside wall of the footwell (mines an S3, not sure if S2's had these ducts? )

Thanks, that's fine (assuming reg not showing), I was going to ask if it could be updated.

Thanks for tip on the air - I only get cold air from the vents in the dash as well so I suspect that it could all be connected. I was going to have a another look tonight as per suggestions but typically it's raining.

Reg not showing but you can add in part if you like?

The vents in the dash are what are known as "Fresh Fly" vents they are not heated, the heater is recirc only. it could be that a hose on its way to those vents has split behind the dash. You could always disconnect it from the bonnet nose duct until you get it sorted if its a pain.

Thanks. I was wondering about those vents, seemed odd that they didn't give hot air, but now explained & also solved by wearing gloves.
